About the Author

Kathleen Neidert, MBA, RD, CSG, LD, FADA, FAND, was director of the Commission on Dietetic Registration, and served on the Academy Board of Directors, House of
Delegates. She won the Copher Award and Medallion Award from the Academy, and the recognition of Excellence in Consultation and Business Practice. Kathleen is a registered dietitian and licensed nursing home administrator, who has also worked as a speaker, freelance writer, and expert witness. She was a member of many advisory committees, and she provided input into federal nursing home regulations.

Kathleen Richmond, MPH, RDN, LDN, is a registered dietitian with experience in public health, clinical nutrition, corporate consulting, and private practice. She has worked as a nutrition consultant for skilled nursing facilities and as a dietitian in both acute care and home health care. She received her BS from Colorado State University and he Master of Public Health degree in human nutrition from the University of Michigan. She was a writer for the American Institutes for Research and provided input into the federal nursing home regulations.
