7. Discuss two possible negative consequences of strict carbohydrate restriction, especially for
children and teens.

8. Identify the typical beginning dose of insulin and three preferred sites of injection.

9. Describe the suggested changes in insulin or food intake for the following: vomiting, overnight hypoglycemia or hyperglycemia, ketosis, long steady exercise, and intense bursts of exercise.

10. Discuss and define the significance of ketones and diabetic ketoacidosis and the therapy needed to bring it under control including with fluids, potassium, insulin, and food.

11. Discuss four preventive health guidelines for a pregnant woman with type 1 diabetes and at
